Do you remember that time that you put gallons of foundation on your face, topping it off with ten ounces of mattifying powder and making your highlighter shine so bright it blinded the entire universe just to make your boyfriend happy? No, we neither! Over the years we’ve come to realise that, against all our expectations, our men like us most in sweatpants, our hair in a messy bun and with a face as bare as a toddlers’ bottom.
So can we now all agree that we just use makeup to make us feel good about ourselves? With a little bit of that caramel - coloured liquid we can get that feeling that nothing can stop us from slaying the day. And we should support and learn from each other when it comes to feeling powerful. Many online beauty goddesses (and gods!) are teaching us their tips and tricks to let out your inner Queen B. You would think that all women would be appreciative of such a gesture, but there is some serious dark shizzle going on in the comment section of these kinds of videos.
Many online makeup artists and beauty influencers have to deal with negative comments, insults and even threats on a daily basis. And the most shocking part of it all is that those comments are mostly from women. Why are there always people who need to bring others down, just because their opinion is slightly different? Just because you are not a big fan of makeup doesn’t mean other people can’t enjoy it. And thanks to the online makeup artists and influencers many women and men all over the world can rub on some extra confidence, brush on a little more self-love and spritz on litres of feeling fierce.
It is time that we show each other some love and positivity, especially online. So let’s grab our fake lashes and overpriced foundation and show those makeup gurus some love!
